We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to oversee the clinic's day-to-day financial records and support the financial health of our practice.
Position Summary:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank accounts and statements, processing payroll, supporting monthly financial reporting and taking necessary measures to produce regular financial information in compliance with the accounting standards and needs of the organization.
The ideal candidate has strong bookkeeping experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and organized financial and accounting records, including filing and record management while ensuring confidentiality.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoices, payments, vendor accounts, and collections.
- Record financial transactions, reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements, and complete all required banking activities.
- Prepare and process payroll, employee expense reimbursements, and petty cash transactions.
- Monitor cash flow and assist with financial planning.
- Record and reconcile patient payments received by cash, cheque, and credit card.
- Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, and monitoring revenues and expenses.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end account reconciliations and financial close activities.
- Maintain accounting policies, account structures, and internal financial controls.
- Resolve invoice, payment, and account discrepancies with vendors and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with tax, payroll, and financial reporting requirements.
- Provide administrative support by responding to phone calls, emails, and other correspondence as required.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience.
- Experience working in a medical, cosmetic, or healthcare clinic is an asset.
- Knowledge of payroll administration and sales tax reporting.
- Experience with the accounting software Sage 50 Premium.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office, email, and standard office equipment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, time management, analytical, communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential financial and payroll information professionally.
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
